This is a quote from an interview with Behringer DJ about the new CMD line of controllers at Scratchworx:
I think this is a prime opportunity for Avid for Torq. The look and design compliments the old Xponent style. the module concept is just what we needed AND with EVERYONE (traktor, ssl, itch, VDJ, pcdj, etc, etc, etc) partnering up, this would be a major missed opportunity if Avid didn't at least put themselves out there as a candidate:

Quote:
How do you determine which software to go with?
It’s difficult. Given my history with Native Instruments and the fact that I use Traktor personally, it’s hard to be impartial. But my job is to pick what’s best for all of our users. And I believe that means we need a software PARTNER – not just someone to buy software from. Anyone will sell you X number of licenses. I want someone who will work with us to make sure we have the best support and the coolest functionality possible. We have several players we’re talking with, but no one has been chosen yet. I don’t want to go into this decision lightly, because I want to make whoever we decide on our defacto software partner for all Behringer DJ products.

I am also not the only one who thinks that these units would be a great fit for Torq.

Agreed. Such a good fit and Behringer is really turning things around.

I agree Torq would be a good fit for those devices. It's win for both! In fact torq could be like the other Kids like VDJ and make a teaser noob LE version or integrated mappings for the CMD controllers when you do an install. If Avid has no interest in bringing out and developing any audio equipment for the dj side and wants to focus it's audio equipment development on the Protools side but yet still want to stay in the DJ software game at the battle for the number 3 spot of the target the DJ market segment this is a good time period to aggressively engage Berhinger for a cross parnership.

+1 for Torq 2 LE:

only 2 Decks
only 1 sampler
No rewire
No Tempo Anchors
No midi learn (only devoted to those CMD's) :)
Less effects
No VST
No External mode

OR, the easiest way:

A modified Torq 1.5!

From Behringer's standpoint...

Does Avid have the best support? Will they really be committed? Hmm, lets look at their past...

=====
In all honesty, i think Avid is the least of there choices...but who knows. Avid would really have to convince them...

Avid would have to step up and REALLY make a great deal AND a commitment to the product line. I've heard that there have already been some very lucrative offers made by other companies. The 'we'll make 'em an offer they can't refuse' sort of deals...

As much as I wish Avid would do something... it's not looking good for a Behringer/Torq union in the future... :(
