i would like to know if any of you who described this problem have had their conectiv unit replaced in the meantime and if yes, did it solve the problem for you? i am beginning to believe this is a hardware issue.

the problem is obviously not related to computer or software configuration.

thats real unfortunate sno. have you tried getting a surge protector just for your laptop/conectiv?

....................--------------------> Surge Protector -> conectiv + laptop or laptop alone
CUBE +--------+
....................---------------------> OTher equipement causing the crash.

peace.

not exactly - but the funny thing is that the problem also occurs when the notebook is running on battery (with no a/c plugged in).

ok Sno Disable your wireless Device while DJing.

But you'll have to tell us what laptop you have.

I have also problems with the Conectiv under Windows XP.
I think it is a problem of bad programmed Win-ASIO drivers.

As soon as equipment with insufficiently screened Powerswitch is used, the computer hangs (also with DJDecks, virtualDJ, Decksadance etc..)
Freezes are at any time reproducible at 2 different Conectiv interfaces. Windows cannot process the "Crack" over USB.

I concern myself now for 5 months with the problem. No hardware solution found. Particularly protected Usb cables, fan-jet filter, interface in aluminum foil etc.. - nothing helped.

On the party I use torq only with my RME-Multiface. There there are no problems.

Tested Systems:
-Sony VAIO AR31E - Coreduo 2Ghz, / 4giga ram
-Toshiba Tecra M4 - 2,1GHz Centrino / 2giga ram
-HP NC6220 - 1,7GHz Centrino /1,5giga ram
-Toshiba Tecra M4 - 1,7GHz Centrino / 1giga ram
-Toshiba M30x-165 - 1,6Ghz Centrino / 1giga ram
-Olidata Stainer (Arima w720k Based) AMD Athlon 2500+ / 1Giga ram

every Notebook with clean / tweaked System - no network etc.
No Problems with Mac

Christian

Sorry for my english

dstar: yeah, i had exactly the same suspicion (driver issue). have you contacted m-audio support about this? i'm looking for more people who have this kind of problem - the more reports they get, the more serious they will take the issue. i'm also from germany btw ;).

Actually I would only a little USB Dongle for Torq.
It is the best DVS for me.

hi - i've had similar problems. first time it happened was in a club - all of a sudden, after like 2,5 hours of problem free playing, right in the middle of a song there was NO SOUND. luckily another dj was about to take over and it was a slow night BUT STILL!

it was def a problem with torq or the conectiv because the mixer/amp/speakers still worked (tested with different system). didn't think too much of it yet, just a freak accident.

but i've experienced the problem a couple of times since, on a different computer, at home - which is worrying. what happened at the club may be related to the electrical/power thing some users have experienced (the next dj may have plugged in some new devices in the power strip), but at home i'm quite sure the freezes happened out of the blue(!).

Any help/suggestions other than what has already been mentioned?

SPECS (see sig)

1st freeze:
ibook g4 (i know - UNDERSPEC'D, but it did work fine previously except for waveform display and effects)

later freezes:
imac g5 + lacie fw 250gb 7200rpm hd

THANKS!
jay

itwontstop: if i understood correctly then you are not able to reproduce the problem on purpose. from what you are saying i would think that this is a different kind of problem.

i haven't tried to reproduce it yet (by adding or taking out other electric devices while playing). will try soon and post the outcome.
